Obituary

Alma Faul, loving wife and mother, passed away peacefully at South Central Regional Medical Center on Saturday, July 27, 2024. She is survived by her husband Robert of 55 years, daughters Jennifer and Kathryn (Brian), grandchildren Tugg, Solveig and Sierra, sisters Frances McCone (Robert) of Rehoboth Beach, DE, and Elizabeth Mabry (Greg) of Chatsworth, GA and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her mother and father and her older brother, Charles, Charles' wife Shirley, and younger brother James.

Alma was born on August 5, 1945 in Baltimore, Maryland, the 2nd child of Charles E. and Margaret E. Futty.  She graduated from Edgewood High School in 1963 and became a Registered Nurse in 1967.  Alma enjoyed helping to heal people in many different places, including hospitals, a county detention center, home health care in Maryland, Delaware and Pennsylvania and a retirement home for Catholic priests.  She also enjoyed sharing her Christian faith and hope for eternal life in Christ Jesus.  Alma met Robert Faul in 1968, wed in 1969 and made their home in rural North East, Maryland, where they raised their two daughters.  Alma was very active in the elementary school PTA, Girl Scouts, Band Boosters, Wesley United Methodist Church and later Pleasant View Baptist Church.  Throughout her life she enjoyed painting the wooden decoys her husband carved, hunting rabbits with her mother and other friends, fishing, thrifting, sewing, gardening, and competitive games of Scrabble.

Alma and Bob frequently joined the Christian Motorcyclist Association in evangelism, Bible studies and group rides in the DELMARVA area and were active members of the Delmarva Emmaus Community.  Their most memorable trips included a motorcycle ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway in 2014 for their 45th wedding anniversary and a trip to Israel with Pleasant View Baptist friends in 2016.  During their time in Maryland, they enjoyed many summer days fishing on the Susquehanna River.  Alma and Bob moved to Laurel, Mississippi in 2020 to downsize and enjoy more warm days with their daughter Jennifer. Here, Alma walked daily with her dogs and kept a small vegetable garden.
