Betty Lorene Nix (Mamaw Betty Lou), 85, of Laurel, MS went to her heavenly home on June 8, 2026. Betty was loved by all who were blessed to meet her. She loved the Lord, her family, gardening and fishing. She will be remembered for the funny songs she always sang, her wise sayings, her gentle soul, her cooking, and for being “Mississippi’s Mamaw”, because everyone she met was family. She never hesitated to give all she had to help those in need and she did so with gladness and a loving and caring heart.

Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Johnny Nix; her parents Henry Clay and Lottie Allen Tucker (Stewart); her brothers Elton Tucker (MS), Perry Tucker (TX) and Howard Tucker (MS); her sisters Eva Bullock (MS), Margaret Rogers (MS), and Louise Bush (MS).

She is survived by her daughter Debora Fenwick (John) of Laurel, son Richard Richardson of Laurel, Gene Tucker of Texas, Dale Baker of Laurel. She is also survived by her grandchildren Michael Nix (Alise) of Laurel, Robert Fenwick (Holly) of Northport, Alabama, Audrey Welch (Josh) of Laurel, Tristin Kemp of Gerome, Idaho, Sage Marie Rice of Twin Falls, Idaho, fourteen great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren.
