Betty Rawls Valentine went to her heavenly home on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at her residence in Soso, MS. Funeral services will be held at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, with visitation beginning at 9:30 AM. A burial service will follow at Union Line Cemetery in Jones County. Bro. Jim Taylor will officiate the service. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home Of Laurel is in charge of arrangements. 601-649-3342

Betty was born in Shivers, MS, on June 25, 1934, to Willie Franklin and Jamie Zelda Fortenberry Rawls. After graduating from New Hebron High School, she moved to Laurel and accepted a position at Masonite Corporation. While working there, she met and married the love of her life, W.M. Valentine.

A devoted member of First Baptist Church of Soso and the Ralph Graves Sunday School Class, Betty was the epitome of a southern lady and hostess. To know her was to love her. She was always ready to open her home to friends and family with love, hospitality, and wonderful food. These cherished memories will forever be treasured by those whose lives she touched.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, W.M. Valentine; her parents, Willie and Jamie Rawls; her infant son, William Marcus; her sister, Mary Dodd; and her brother, Bobby Franklin Rawls.

She is survived by her son, David Rawls Valentine; her brother, Billy Rawls; and many beloved nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Bynum, Ross Bynum, Marshall Bynum, Justin Bynum, Carol Johnson, and Tommy Musgrove.

Honorary pallbearers will be Members of the Ralph Graves Sunday School Class.

Special music will be provided by Dr. Ken Culpepper.
