Billy Ray Ivey was born June 3, 1955, in Mississippi and passed away August 11, 2026.

He was preceded in death by his father, Adrian Earl Ivey, and his beloved mother Georgie Lee Ivey.

Billy worked with his father in a brick yard early on and later in poultry houses for many years.

Though his tough exterior was what most people saw, those who were able to get to know Billy found a genuine soul with a quirky sense of humor and a love for nature. He loved seeing the flowers blooming in the spring and watching the birds all around his home. He especially loved his four cats who were like his children. Billy was also special to several neighbors who befriended and looked after him.

He is survived by his brother Charles Ray Ivey (Susie) of Hattiesburg, MS.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 17, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Lake Como Baptist Church, Bay Springs, MS with burial to follow at Lake Como Baptist Church Cemetery. Colonial Chapel of Laurel is in charge of the arrangements. Special thanks to Rev. Paul Hand and Lake Como Baptist Church for their help with the arrangements.
