Bobby Ray Holifield, SR, 77 of Laurel, MS passed away Sunday, December 31, 2023 at his residence in Laurel, MS. He was born Tuesday, December 24, 1946 in Laurel, Mississippi.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel in 4593 Indian Springs Road, Laurel, MS. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel. Burial will follow in Myrick Cemetery in Laurel, Mississippi. Bro. Curtis Pitts will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel is in charge of arrangements. 601-649-3342
He was a member of Antioch Pentecostal Church of Laurel. Bobby was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was best known for his gun smith skills. He worked at Gibson's in Laurel at the sporting section. Then went on to open his own sporting good's store in the 80's known as Bobby's sporting goods where he made many friends. After closing the store, he sold insurance for liberty national and then went on to install satellites for prime star.
He had a very close relationship with his Lord and loved his friends and family dearly.
He was preceded in death by his father, Milton J Holifield; mother, Jewel Jean Crawford Holifield, and sister in laws Pauline Holifield, Elaine Holifield, Shirley Holifield.
Survivors include his sons, Bobby Holifield, Jr and Jody A Holifield; daughters, Dawn Holifield Jordan (Jeffrey) and Angela D Holifield Clark; brothers, MJ Holifield, Ronnie Holifield and Prentiss Holifield; granddaughters, Brianna McLemore (Matthew), Amber Thatch, Hannah Davis (Walter), Brittany Purvis (Slade), Bailee Reed (Taylor), Katlyn Myrick, Rebecca Hawk (Josh) and Memorie Boykin.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Holifield, Chris Holifield, Jae Holifield, Joe Holifield, Ronnie Holifield, Jim Thatch, Landen Henderson, and Phil Dickerson.
