Brenda Faye Powell, 75, of Soso, MS, passed away peacefully at her residence on Monday, August 4, 2025. Born on July 18, 1950, in Laurel, Mississippi, Brenda was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Tommy Powell; her sons, Thomas B. Powell and his wife Lisa, and Kenneth B. Powell; her cherished grandchildren, Morgan Sims and her husband Chris; and her great-grandchildren, Amelia Sims and Robbie Sims. Aaron Powell and his wife Myrene; her brother, Carroll Todd and his wife Sandra.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Varon "Mutt" Vincent Todd and Doris Musgrove Todd, and her brothers, Bobby Todd and Charles Todd.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel, located at 4593 Indian Springs Rd, Laurel, MS. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the same location, with Bro. Jimmy Hood and Bro. Adam Sloan officiating. Brenda will be laid to rest at Big Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Soso, Mississippi.
Pallbearers will include Ronnie Parker, Tim Parker, Jason Todd, Vince Todd, Chris Sims, and Aaron Powell. Arrangements are under the care of Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel.
