Buddy Bynum
November 24, 1942—September 24, 2024
"But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint". Isaiah 40:31.
Buddy (James Edgar) Bynum of Calhoun Community of Laurel, MS, ran into the arms of Jesus at the age of 81 on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, exactly two months prior to his 82nd birthday on November 24. Although the enemy thought he won a victory by attacking Buddy's body with Parkinson's and Lewy Body Dementia, Buddy left this world free of all sickness and disease. Buddy was surrounded by his family.
Buddy is predeceased by his son, Reagan Shedale Bynum, his parents Glover and Bennie Kate Gordon Bynum.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Lela Blue Bynum, his daughters, Rischey Nichole Bynum (Tony) Lewis and Audrey Deanna Bynum (Jody) Mayatte. He was honored to be the Pawpaw of Michael Lewis, Michaela Lewis (Austin McLain), Dylan (Lily) Walters, Connor Walters, and Kate Bynum. Buddy also leaves behind four great grandchildren, Christian, Cason, and Carolynne McLain and Jasper Walters. Buddy also leaves one brother, Stan Bynum and one sister, Ann McRae.
Buddy's life is a testament to his love for his Lord and Savior, his family, and many friends. He never stopped working his entire life, and his accomplishments were many. The only hobby that Buddy ever enjoyed was riding his Goldwing Trike which took him on many adventures traveling thousands of miles across the United States with his wife and numerous friends.
The family cordially invites you to join them as his pastor, Glenn McElhenny leads A Celebration of Life for Buddy at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Grace Covenant Church, 100 Grace Lane, Laurel, MS 39443.
Buddy will be laid to rest in a private family ceremony at Calhoun Cemetery Laurel, MS, on Wednesday, September 25, 2024. Colonial Chapel of Laurel is in charge of these arrangements.
The family would like to thank the medical staff at Forrest General Hospital's 7th Floor Medical Professionals and the staff of Forrest General Hospital Hospice Care for their assistance in his medical treatment.
