Carl D
Hull
September 5, 1935 – December 28, 2024
Carl D. Hull, aged 89, of Laurel, MS, passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday, December 28, 2024. Born on September 5, 1935, in Pineville, Mississippi, Carl lived a full and cherished life.
My papaw, Carl Douglas Hull, went to his eternal home December 28. He is the embodiment of what a true man is. He is strong, brave, a hard worker, kind, and would do anything for his people. He was blessed with 89 years on this earth.
Though his passing was under unfortunate circumstances, I want him to be remembered for his life. He should be remembered as Mr. Calhoun High School 1955 and for his athletic abilities, welding skills, strength, love, and kindness. He along with my grandmother was there for every school program, awards day, game, everything no matter what. My papaw was so excited for me to graduate and for my college goals. I wish he would have been here to see those things happen. My papaw is in a better place and without pain. I will always remember him when I think of horses, Nascar, bulldogs, tractors, and his rocking chair. I'm happy to share his love for wildlife, interest in cool trucks and cars, and his stubbornness. My papaw is truly one of the most amazing people I've ever known. –Allie Burchfield
I am going to miss you, Papaw. I will see you again one day. I will love you forever and always. You were my best friend. –Addison Burchfield
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Thurman O. Hull and Maudie Sorey Hull.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Ellender Landrum Hull of Laurel, MS, and his daughter, Amy Burchfield, along with her husband Michael. Carl was a proud grandfather to Addison Burchfield and Allie Burchfield. He is also survived by his brothers, Johnny Hull, Buddy Hull and his wife Linda, and Ronnie Hull and his wife Linda, as well as his sister, Sue Mauldin and her husband Jack. Carl leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews who will fondly remember him.
Carl was a hard worker and left a great impact on the lives he touched. He was adored by his grandchildren for his strength, love, and kindness. He instilled in them what it meant to enjoy a simple country life and to be loyal to their loved ones. Carl never missed an opportunity to talk about his grandchildren and was proud of all their accomplishments. He will forever be missed.
