Obituary

Clara E. Brownlee, 81, of Heidelberg, MS, passed away peacefully at her residence on Thursday, January 2, 2025. Born on February 17, 1943, in Jones County, Mississippi, Clara lived a life full of love and dedication to her family.

She is survived by her loving husband, Clifton Wayne Brownlee of Heidelberg, MS. Clara was a devoted mother to her sons, Donald Landrum (Sandy) and Ronald Landrum, and her daughters, Freita Taylor (Joe), Sheila Williams (Will), Rachael Wilson, and Rebecca Landrum (Chris). Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Jason McDaniel, John McDaniel, Amber Brown, Rachel Landrum, Daniel Williams, Emily Williams, Victoria Rountree, Rebecca Hawk, Chase Pitts, Lonnie Harris, and Sara Swinney Rogers, as well as a great grandchild and a host of great and great-great grandchildren.

Clara was preceded in death by her parents, John Calvin Smith, Sr. and Inell Hickson Smith, her grandchildren Donald Landrum, Adam Landrum, and Katie Landrum, her brothers John 'Johnny' C. Smith, Jr. and Michael Smith, and her sister Nancy Richards. She is also survived by her brothers, Tommy Smith and Martin Smith, and her sisters, Patricia Thompson and Ginger McKenzie.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 5, 2025, from 5:00PM until 7:00PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel, located at 4593 Indian Springs Rd, Laurel, MS. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, January 6, 2025, at 11:00AM at Oakland Grove Baptist Church in Laurel, MS, with burial to follow in Oakland Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Sandersville, Mississippi. The services will be officiated by Bro. Corey Vermilyea, Bro. Martin Smith, and Bro. Josh Hawk. Arrangements are under the care of Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Williams, Jason McDaniel, Donald Landrum, John McDaniel, Chase Pitts, and Lonnie Harris.

Clara will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the love she shared with her family and friends. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
