Donald Larry "Ray" Hankins, 85, of Laurel, MS passed away Thursday, May 23, 2024 in Sandersville, Mississippi. He was born Friday, May 5, 1939 in Taylorsville, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 from 4:30 PM until 7:00 PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel on 4593 Indian Springs Road, Laurel, MS. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel. Burial will follow in Fellowship Cemetery in Taylorsville, Mississippi. Kenny McDaniel will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel is in charge of arrangements. 601-649-3342

Don Hankins, everyone knew him as "Ray" who was the salesman at Ray's Auto Sales on Cross Street in Laurel for over 62 years. He was well known in the community for helping many people there.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Lythia Rachel Ables Hankins; father, Perry Hankins; mother, Katie Meryl Freeman McDaniel; brothers, Jerry Hankins and Dart Hankins; granddaughter, Jessica Lindsey Hankins.

Survivors include his sons, Ronnie Hankins (Celina) and Richard Lambert Hankins (Madalyn);  daughters, Kendra Hankins Allen (Bryan) and a special "adopted daughter" Nancy Sumrall Willis;  brother, Kenny McDaniel (Betty);  grandsons, Malichi Holifield (Nikki), Isaac Allen and Elijah Allen;  granddaughters, Desirae Thompson (Cody), Hayley Hankins, Jennifer Lambert (Josuph Frishmann), Kellie Kuiken (Dustin) and Tasha Farrish (Nick);  great grandsons, Bryce Keener, Wesley  Moore, Josuph Frishmann, Everett Kuiken, Robert Scott Holifield, Owen Berthelson, Sam Farrish and Noah Farrish;  great granddaughters, Hannah Newsome, Madalyn Kuiken, Dakota Jane Thompson and Sophia Holifield.

Pallbearers will be Isaac Allen, Elijah Allen, Malichi Holifield, Manny McDaniel, and Cody Thompson.
