Donnis H. Gavin, 72, of Laurel, MS, passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel, MS. Born on April 24, 1953, in Lucedale, Mississippi, Donnis was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

He is survived by his loving wife, Monica Bynum Gavin; his daughter, Caley Gavin Minter and her husband Cory; his cherished grandchildren, Emma Cotten (Ethan Hilbun), Taylor Minter (Kippy Touchstone), and Kynleigh Minter; his brothers, George D. Gavin and his wife Janice, Larry A. Gavin and his wife Linda, and Richard Gavin and his wife Julia; his sister, Dianne Gavin (DP Scarborough); and his great-grandchild, Rhett Hilbun. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.

Donnis was preceded in death by his parents, Alton Gavin and Mildred Delores Nix Gavin, and his grandchildren, Cole Cotten and Annalise Cotten.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 14, 2025, from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel, located at 4593 Indian Springs Rd, Laurel, MS. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM at the same location, with Bro. Bill Blair officiating. Pallbearers will include Ethan Hilbun, Kippy Touchstone, Heath McDonald, Danny Thornton, Michael Gavin, Mikey Everett, and Bubba Sims, with Al Graham serving as an honorary pallbearer.
