Dorothy "Dot" Carol Byrd Yarbrough, 71, of Soso, MS, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel, MS. Born on June 23, 1953, in Laurel, Mississippi.
Dorothy was a beloved mother, Mimi, sister, and friend. Dot was a remarkable woman who lived her life with fierce independence, a sassy wit, and an unwavering work ethic. Her deep faith in God guided her through life's challenges, and she faced every trial with the strength of a true fighter. Dot touched the lives of so many, leaving behind a legacy of love, determination, and resilience. She is now at peace and reunited with her Creator.
She is survived by her sons, Michael Yarbrough and his wife Hayley, and David Yarbrough and his wife Ginger. Her cherished grandchildren, Olivia Yarbrough, Dax Yarbrough, Eli Walters, and Audrey Yarbrough, will treasure her memory. Dot is also survived by her brothers, Charlie Byrd and his wife Suzanne, and Dale Byrd, as well as her sister-in-law, Rhonda Byrd. Her dear friend, Gwen Bower, and a host of nieces and nephews will remember her fondly and celebrate her life.
She was preceded in death by her father, D.C. Byrd, her mother, Marie Giles Byrd, and her brother, Billy Byrd.
Graveside services will be held on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at 2:30 PM at Union Line Cemetery in Soso, MS, with burial to follow. Bro. David Hagan will officiate the service. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel is overseeing arrangements.
The family wishes to thank the medical staff at South Central Regional Medical Center for their compassion and kindness as well as Dr. Mildred Ridgway, Bethany Sabins, and their team at the University of Mississippi Medical Center Division of Gynecologic Oncology as they guided and supported her through her long journey.
