Obituary

Dorothy Lanelle Grayson, 90, of Laurel, Mississippi passed away peacefully after a brief illness on January 3, 2020 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi with her family by her side.

Mrs. Grayson was one of seven children born to the late Noel and Burah Sommers, June 12, 1929, in Laurel, Mississippi. She married the late Rex Grayson, from the Centerville community in 1955, and they lived together in Mobile, Alabama for approximately fifteen years before relocating back to Laurel.

Mrs. Grayson is survived by three children: Gary Grayson, of Cypress, TX; Susan Russell, of Laurel; and David Grayson, of Hattiesburg. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Grayson was preceded in death by her loving husband in 1998. She attended West Laurel Baptist Church in Laurel, Mississippi where she served faithfully for many years in the nursery.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 6, 2020 at 11 a.m. in the Sanctuary of West Laurel Baptist Church followed by a service honoring and remembering her life beginning at 12:30 p.m. Gary Shows, Executive Pastor of Temple Baptist Church in Hattiesburg, Mississippi will be conducting the services. A graveside service will take place at the Centerville Baptist Church cemetery in the Centerville community of West Jones County immediately following the church service.
Pallbearers will be Micah Grayson, Blake Grayson, Brian Grayson, Matt Bryant, Aaron Gulsby and Jay Bankston.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gideons International in Mrs. Grayson name. Colonial Chapel Funeral of Laurel is in charge of the arrangement.
