Ellis Gene Ryals, 81, of Laurel, MS passed away Thursday, September 29, 2022. He was born Tuesday, April 15, 1941 in Laurel, Mississippi.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 3, 2022 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Parkview Baptist Church on 930 N Tenth Ave, Laurel, MS. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM. The burial will take place at Crestview Cemetery in Laurel, MS. Pastor Shane Singleton and Pastor Justin Holifield will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel is in charge of arrangements. 601-649-3342
Ellis was a devoted Christian and a member of Parkview Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and doing things outdoors. Ellis loved his family especially his beloved dog Sandy. Ellis was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Trudie Harris Ryals; step-daughter, Beverly Holifield; father, Jessie Ryals; mother, Bessie Jones Ryals and his brother, Cecil Ryals.
Survivors include his daughters, Laurie Walters and Lisa Masters; step-daughter, Kim Plankers; sister, Kathy Landrum; grandsons, Justin Holifield (Ashley), Cody Plankers, Taylor Plankers, Jacob Holifield (Grace), Jason Simard and Justin Ryals; granddaughters, Michelle Byrd (Shorty), Amanda Loftin (Jeremy), Brandy Maskew (Brian) and Amy Stampley as well as eleven great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Shorty Byrd, Jeremy Loftin, Brian Maskew, Cody Plankers, Taylor Plankers, and Jacob Holifield.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bryson Ford, Zachary Pack, and Jonathan Wells.
