Elmer Wendell Ellzey, 86 of Soso, MS passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at his residence in Soso, MS. He was born Wednesday, January 20, 1937, in Crackersneck, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023, from 10:00AM until 11::00AM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel in 4593 Indian Springs Road, Laurel, MS. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 11:00AM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel, MS. Burial will follow in Centerville Baptist Church Cemetery in Soso, MS.

Wendell owned and drove trucks for many years prior to working for Tim Parker Construction for 30 years. He was an avid deer hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman. He loved spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his sons, Thomas Ellzey; parents, Elmer Benton and Fannie Welch Ellzey; brother, Bear Ellzey.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Annie Johnson Ellzey; sons, Terry Ellzey and Jared Ellzey; daughters, Teresa Williams and Jan Godwin (Glenn); grandchildren, Kolton Williams, Tiffany Lietaker, Kolbie Salinas (Jesus), Jessica Stephenson (Tanner), TJ Ellzey and JT Ellzey; great grandchildren, Jonathan Williams, Gabriel Williams, Sadie Lietaker, Cooper Lietaker, Kenasyn Williams, Daniel Williams and Abby Kate Munn.

Pallbearers will be JB Pitts, TJ Ellzey, Lance Smith, Marlin Ellzey, Ronnie Parker, and Cody Hilbun.

Honorary pallbearers will be John D. Ellzey, Gerald Pitts, and Tim Parker.
