Obituary

Eloise Buchanan, 91, of Sandersville, MS, passed away peacefully on Sunday July 19, 2026, at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel, MS. She was born on September 11, 1934 in Wayne County, MS.

Eloise loved her family and gardening. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband, James for 22 years in the U.S. Army. Eloise was known for her pepper sauce that would set you on fire.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Buchanan; parents, Joe and Nicie Bell Reeves; son, Kenny Buchanan; sister, Elon Smith; brothers, Charlie Reeves, Jamie Reeves, Donnie Reeves.

She is survived by her loving family, including her daughter, Judy Hicks (Mark); sons, Steve Buchanan (Betty), Kevin Buchanan (Charlotte); grandchildren, Bryan Hicks, Hunter Buchanan (Kayla), Makenzie Buchanan; great-granddaughter, Rya Hicks; sister, Elsie Gatlin and a host of nieces, nephews and step grandchildren.

Graveside services will be on Friday July 24, 2026 at 10:00AM at McGill Cemetery in Sandersville, MS. Bro. Wayne Johnson will officiate. Arrangements are under the care of Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel, MS.
