Eva Yvonne Jefcoat Parker, 82 years old, of Laurel, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2026, at home, surrounded by her family.
She was born on December 10, 1943, in Jones County, Mississippi in the Rustin community to Reverend Richard and Sallie Mae Hodge. In her early years, She worked in finance and eventually moved to working on her chicken farm. She loved her family fiercely, was a devoted Christian, and loved to play the piano at church.
Eva and her husband, Tommy, moved to Georgia for a short time to support his football coaching career, where she also found a new love of being a teaching assistant. She was a wonderful daughter, loving mother and grandmother, and devoted wife of 48 years. She loved her family and made many friends throughout her lifetime.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jackie David Jefcoat, her parents, Richard and Sallie, her sisters, Joyce Jean and Jackie Jones, her brothers, Brent Hodge and Jack Hodge, and her granddaughter, Charlee Mae Parker.
Eva is survived by her loving husband, Tommy Davis Parker; her sons, Tommy Davis Parker Jr. and Jackie Dairl Jefcoat (Tina); her daughter, Vicki Holifield (Donald); her brother, Kent Hodge (Shelley); her grandchildren, Christina Jefcoat, Jackolynn Gatlin (Brian), Megan Holifield (Brandon), Shelby Gregory (Chance), Markas Holifield (Taylor), Marlie Holifield, Chad Holifield (Maggie), Kadie Nobles (Will), Trip Parker (Kamryn), Preslee Parker, Jasper Parker and Rein Parker; seventeen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was forever referred to as “Memommy” by all of her grandchildren, young nieces and nephews. Though we will miss her dearly, we are comforted knowing she is no longer in pain and will see her again one day soon. Pallbearers will be Rickey Hodge, Jonathan Hodge, Wyatt Hodge, Kody Hodge, Kevin Mortenson, and Case McMullen.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Gabe Langley and Bryce Easterling.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 31th, 2026, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel, Mississippi. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, May 31, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel and the Burial will follow in Lake Cemetery in Laurel, MS
Bro. Bill Myers and Bro. Kenneth Harrison will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. (601) 649-3342.
