Faye Zegelien Murphy, 88 of Laurel, MS passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at Jones County Rest Home in Ellisville, MS. She was born Monday, November 30, 1936, in Laurel, Mississippi.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 10, 2025, from 11:00AM until 12:00PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel at 4593 Indian Springs Rd, Laurel, MS. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 10, 2025, at 12:00PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel in Laurel, MS. Burial will follow in Pine Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery in Laurel, Mississippi. Bro. Dave Moran will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel is in charge of arrangements. 601-649-3342.
Faye was a multi-talented woman. She was well known for being a talented pianist and taught piano. She was a gifted singer. She was in nursing and a caregiver. She painted, crocheted, sewed, great cook and did anything she set her mind to.
Faye was a member of Temple Baptist Church and her home church was Pine Ridge Baptist Church. She was a Sunday School teacher, played piano and organ and sang. She was a preacher's daughter and a preacher's wife. She loved the Lord and her family with all of her heart.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Bro. Charles Zegelien and 6 years to Bro. Eugene Murphy; father, A. W. Smith; mother, Vallie Evans Smith; brother, Herman Smith; sisters, Aline English, Ruby Sherman, Caudie Owens and Louise McGill.
Survivors include her son, Michael Zegelien (Christina); daughters, Brenda Myrick (Tony) and Terri Breazeale (Scott); grandchildren, Jennifer Scrimpshire (Jason), Anthony Myrick (LeaAnn), Nathan Myrick (Samantha), Stephen Breazeale, Taylor Breazeale, Ashley Breazeale, Marcus Zegelien, Krystal Stineff and Bree Ybarbo; great grandchildren, Aubrey Breazeale, Reese Myrick, Renleigh Myrick, Nadylie Myrick, Annalise Scrimpshire, Carter Scimpshire, Dallas Bond, Brooklyn Stineff and Charotte Stineff.
Pallbearers will be Nathan Myrick, Stephen Breazeale, Bobby Sherman, Jay Smith, Kelly Pugh and Brian McDonald.
Honorary pallbearers will be Anthony Myrick, Larry Loftin and Jimmy Owens.
