George "Buck" "Foots" Carlton Buchanan, 89, of Sandersville, MS, passed away peacefully at his residence on Monday, January 19, 2026. Born on February 26, 1936, in Heidelberg, Mississippi, George lived a full and cherished life surrounded by his loving family.

He is survived by his sons, Carl Buchanan (Gina) and David Buchanan (Becca), both of Laurel, MS; his daughters, Michelle Hutto (Johnnie Mack) of Laurel, MS, and Tammy Martin (Ken) of Ellisville, MS. George was a proud grandfather to Jonathon Pace (Megan), Ethan Pace (Victoria), Sam Buchanan, George Buchanan, Dalton Hutto (Olivia), Anna Bond (Brennen), Gage Buchanan, Ethan Ehrig, Alaena Ehrig, and Kristen Boone (Lane), and a great-grandfather to eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Eloise Buchanan.

George was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Faye Pauline Garner Buchanan, his parents Eugene and Cammie McFarland Buchanan, his brothers Elton Buchanan (Letha Ree) and Jimmy Buchanan, his sisters Annita Buchanan and Jeanette Buchanan, and his grandchild, Hunter Buchanan.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel, located at 4593 Indian Springs Rd, Laurel, MS. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM at the same location, with Bro. David Fedele officiating. Burial will take place at McGill Cemetery in Sandersville, MS.

Pallbearers will include Johnnie Mack Hutto, Carl Buchanan, David Buchanan, Ken Martin, Jonathon Pace, and Ethan Pace, with honorary pallbearers being Dalton Hutto, Gage Buchanan, George Buchanan, and Sam Buchanan.

George will be remembered for his dedication to his family and the love he shared with all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
