Georgie Hughes Hicks of Laurel, MS was born May 31, 1932, and went home to her Lord and Savior on September 25, 2026, at the age of 94. Above all else, Georgie loved the Lord with all her heart. Her faith was the foundation of her life, reflected in how she cared for her family, ministered to those inside and outside her home, and faithfully served as a longtime member of West Laurel Baptist Church. For over 50 years, she touched many lives as a hairdresser in Laurel.

Georgie was a devoted supporter of her sons and grandchildren, rarely missing their school, sports, or coaching events. She was incredibly proud of her family and would tell everyone about their accomplishments. Georgie was an amazing cook who loved sharing her desserts with others and had a natural green thumb. She enjoyed taking care of her many plants and flowers within and outside her home. She will be dearly missed by all who loved and knew her.

Ms. Hicks was preceded in death by her parents, S. D. and Ota Hughes, and by her brother, Sidney Rhea Hughes (Joyce). She is survived by her two sons, Cecil Hicks II (Melody) and Casey Hicks (Erin); three grandchildren, Slade Hicks (Megan), Kylee Hicks, and Kinsey Hicks; and two sisters, Mary Jane Matthews (C.B.) and Annette Hughes.

The family would like to thank the many nurses, attendants, house keepers, and general personnel that touched her life at Comfort Care Nursing Home where she spent her last years. The family would also like to thank the members of West Laurel Baptist Church for their love and support.

A graveside service will be held Monday, October 5, 2026, at 9:00AM at Lake Park Hills in Laurel, MS. Arrangements are under the care of Colonial Chapel Funeral Home.
