Harry Lynn Wedgeworth, 78, of Soso, MS, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2026, at Annies Angels Personal Care Home in Bay Springs, MS. Born on April 11, 1947, in Laurel, Mississippi, Harry was a beloved member of his community.
He was a lifelong member of Centerville Baptist Church, where his faith guided his life and the way he loved others. He proudly served his community in law enforcement, dedicating 22 years with the Jones County Sheriff's Department and the Town of Soso. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge. An avid sports fan, he never missed the chance to cheer on his favorite teams, the Atlanta Braves, New Orleans Saints, and the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Known for his warm smile and friendly spirit, he had a way of making everyone feel welcome. Above all else, he deeply loved his family and found his greatest joy in being with them.
He is survived by his sons, James Reuben Wedgeworth and wife Natalie, Benjamin Harry Wedgeworth and wife Jamie, and Byron Joseph Wedgeworth and wife Danielle. He also leaves behind his sister, Patsy McLaurin, and cherished grandchildren, Jackson Wedgeworth and wife Ema, Emma Wedgeworth, Bailey Wedgeworth, Harley Odom and husband Hunter, Hayden Wedgeworth and wife Emaleigh, Austin Wedgeworth, Hunter Wedgeworth, and Hanna Wedgeworth. His sisters-in-law, Sue Wedgeworth and Mary Wedgeworth, also survive him.
Harry was preceded in death by his loving wife, Regina Pitts Wedgeworth, his parents, Arthur Rubin Ott Wedgeworth and Katie Esther Thornton Wedgeworth, his brothers, L. V. Wedgeworth, Buck Wedgeworth, Ray Wedgeworth (Pug), and Glenn Wedgeworth, his sisters, Lettie Wedgeworth, Lelia Wedgeworth, and Paige Winningham (Johnnie), and his brother-in-law, Mitchell McLaurin.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Centerville Baptist Church, located at 995 Centerville Rd, Soso, MS. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM at the same location, with burial in the Centerville Baptist Church Cemetery. Dr. Rich Gray and Bro. Brian Dickens will officiate the services. Arrangements are being handled by Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel.
