Hilman Holifield, 87, of Laurel, Mississippi, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2018, at his residence in Laurel, Mississippi. He was born Friday, January 2, 1931, in George County, Mississippi.
Family will receive friends and loved ones on Tuesday, January 1, 2019, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel on Indian Springs Road. Services will be held Tuesday, January 1, 2019, at 2:00 PM at Colonial Chapel, and the Burial will follow in Taylor Family Cemetery adjacent to the chapel. Dr. Richard Clark will officiate. Mr. Holifield served in the U.S. Army. He was owner of Holifield Plumbing until his retirement in 1993. He was an avid outdoorsman and longtime member of Sharon Hunting Club. He also served on the board of the Calhoun Water Association, and he was instrumental in the formation of the public water system.
He was preceded in death by Andrew Tim Holifield (Father), Maudie Parker Holifield (Mother), Pearl T. Holifield (Step-mother), Jewel Windham (Sister), Otis Waites (Step-brother), Leland Waites (Step-brother), Rev. Arnold Knight (Brother-in-Law) and W.T. Windham (Brother-in-Law).
Survivors include Ann G. Holifield (Wife), Rhonda Holifield (David Conyers) (Daughter), Teresa Holifield Monson (Steve) (Daughter), Jacob Conyers-Holifield (Grandson), Hunter Monson (Grandson), Matthew Conyers (Grandson), Mitchell Conyers (Audrey) (Grandson), Hazel Knight (Sister), A.T. Buddy Holifield (Sarah) (Brother), Myrtle Lee Dykes (Sister), Harold Holifield (Vickie) (Brother), Loyd Waites (Step-brother), and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Mike Giles, David Conyers, Steve Monson, Mitchell Conyers, Thomas Holifield, Adam Welch, Bill Windham and Joey Blackwell.
