Growing up in a military family, Doug lived in Stuttgart, Germany, and Savannah, GA before graduating high school in Del Rio, TX in 1968 as a member of the Del Rio Wildcat golf and football teams. Doug found his hometown in Taylorsville where he lived most of his life.

Doug retired from the Mississippi State Hospital in 2018. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, and cheering on the Taylorsville Tartars, especially where his daughters were concerned. He never missed a ball game, cheer competition, band concert, choir performance, or club induction. For many years, he was a proud member of the Taylorsville Athletic Boosters, Bass Masters, the Okatuppa Hunting Club, and most recently, the coffee club at the Gitano Grill. He enjoyed history shows, political debates, and college sports, and he found his greatest joy in spending time with his two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Richard Cain, and Georgia Nell Yelverton Cain.

Survivors include daughter Lisa Conn, son-in-law TJ Conn, and grandchildren Brenna and Wesley Conn all of Ellisville, daughter Emily Cain of Starkville, sister Yvonne Cain of Brandon, brother Steven Cain of Ocean Springs, and his daughters' mother, Janet Cain of Taylorsville.

Serving as pallbearers will be Larry Blakeney, Joe Corley, Sammy Ford, Jim Wade Ford, Dink Ford, Keith Moore, and
Trenny Walley.

Doug's daughters would like to extend their most heartfelt thank you to Bobbie Sims, Jo Donna Parker, and all the wonderful staff of Fresenius Kidney Care in Magee for their compassionate care and loving friendship.
