Obituary

James Randall Dykes, 71, passed away peacefully at his home in Laurel, Mississippi, on September 19, 2025. Born on December 30, 1953, in Laurel, Randall was a cherished member of his community throughout his life.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 31 years, Ruth Walters Dykes, and his children: sons Buddy West and Randy Dykes, and daughters Tanya Dykes, Nancy Waites, and Amanda Weekley, along with her husband Tony. Randall also leaves behind his brother, Harry Dykes, and his wife Janice, as well as his brother-in-law, Craig English. He was a proud grandfather to 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Randall was preceded in death by his daughter, Kala Ishee; his parents, Carlos and Marie Jefcoat Dykes; his sister, Brenda English; his great-granddaughter, Addison Weekley; and his son-in-law, Leo Waites.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel, located at 4593 Indian Springs Rd, Laurel, MS. Funeral services will follow at 11:30 AM at Myrick Cemetery, with burial in Myrick Cemetery. Rev. Kenny Morris will officiate the services. Arrangements are under the care of Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel.

Pallbearers will include Ricky Joe Smith, Ricky Smith, David Ratcliff, Joe Spradley, David Hackler, Chris English, Justin Morris, and Kelvin Hunnel.
