Obituary

Lucia Jane Graves Winn of Laurel Mississippi peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 19, 2023, at her son's residence in Jackson.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm Friday, December 22, 2023 with visitation from 12:00-1:30, at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel, with burial at Sunset Garden Cemetery. Her son, Pastor Thomas Winn and Dr. Cary Kimbrell will officiate the funeral. She was born May 8, 1930 in Laurel, MS, and married to the late Lewis E. Winn for 56 years.

She was a retired LPN and after retirement devoted much time to various church ministries along with sitting with the elderly. She was a faithful member of Highland Baptist and West Laurel Baptist for many years. She was a loving caregiver to her husband for eight years after he had a massive stroke in 1998. In 2011, she moved to Jackson and joined Grace Baptist, where her son is pastor. Her favorite times were spent in church ministry, caring for family and friends, and working in local and state politics. She was also an active member of the Daughters of the Revolution. An inspiration to all who knew her through her faith, strength, and courage.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis; father and mother, Ford and Ruth Graves; four sisters, Laverne Terry, Betty Walker, Katherine McRaney, Hazel Grafton and a brother, Ben Graves. She leaves behind three sons Edward, wife Anita, Robert, wife Wendy, Thomas, wife Lawanda, and one daughter, Jan Young. She also leaves behind a heritage of 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 2  great, great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be: Chris Kimbrell, Terry Leach, Cory Strother, Prashant Thakkar, Cody Wallace, Dawson Winn, and Dale Young. Honorary pallbearers: Greg Brown, Jimmy Dale, Fonzo Finch, Larry Grafton, Keith Harvey, Frank MacArthur, Joe Nesom, John Rhymes, and Robert Smith. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to Grace Baptist Church at Castlewoods Mission Fund towards the African Pastors Conferences and Mission Portugal.
