Janie Aline Kilgore, 79, of Laurel, MS, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at Asbury Hospice House in Hattiesburg, MS. Born on July 6, 1945, in Laurel, Mississippi, Janie was a beloved member of her community.

Janie was a Master Gardener and an active member of The Order of the Eastern Star. Her faith was important to her, and she was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Calhoun. Janie had a deep love for Jesus and found joy in celebrating Christmas, listening to Elvis and Doris Day, and spending time with her cats.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Eugene Kilgore; her father, David William Weathersby; her mother, Breva June Bryant Weathersby; and her brother, David Lynn Weathersby.

Janie is survived by her son, Robert William Sanders, II (Lisa); her daughters, Lesley Sanders Wood (Eric) and Deborah Robinson Sumrall; her grandchildren, Matthew Sanders, William Sanders, Wyatt Wood, Campbell Wood, and April Satcher; her great-grandchildren, Belle Satcher and Primrose Satcher; and a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2024, with visitation from 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel, located at 4593 Indian Springs Rd, Laurel, MS. The funeral service will follow at 2:30 PM at the same location, with burial at First Baptist Calhoun Church Cemetery in Laurel, Mississippi. Nate Blackledge will officiate the services. Arrangements are being handled by Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel.
