Jerome Smith, 80, of Laurel, MS, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at his residence. He was born on September 28, 1946, in Laurel, Mississippi.

Jerome loved to spend his free time fishing and spending time with his loving family. He was always a kind soul to be around and always making everyone laugh.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee Smith and Jenell Smith; daughter, Connie Carr; brother, Roger Dale Smith

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Linda Smith; sons, Jerry Smith and Bobby Smith (Kim); daughters, Kristy Reeves (Ramey) and Savannah Green (Jason); grandchildren, Magon Gavin (Hunter), Jacob Smith (Olivia), Harlon Reeves and Kaelin Reeves; great grandchildren, Nathan Daniels, Braxton Green, Maylee Gavin, Kannon Green, Magnolia Gavin and Willow Smith; grandchildren by love, Cole Rozek, Alli Hester and Jordan Heidleberg; sisters, Helen Ulmer (James) and Janice Rhodes (Clifford); brother, Danny Smith (Maria). A host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel from 5:00PM to 7:00PM. Funeral will be held on Friday October 2, 2026, at the same location at 2:00PM. Burial will follow at Victory Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Kenny Smith and Bro. Vince Moss will officiate. Arrangements are under the care of Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel, MS.

Pallbearers will be Cory Smith, Doug Rainer, Michael Rainer, Brad Ulmer, Dusty Loper and Joby Moss.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Joe Knotts and Zac Smith.
