John Hershel Broadway, 91, of Soso, MS, passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel, MS. Born on October 5, 1933, in Smith County, Mississippi, John was a beloved father and a self-employed logger for many years. He had a passion for playing the guitar and cherished his family deeply. He was the greatest dad a man could have.

He is survived by his sons, John Steven Broadway (Lisa) and Don Wayne Broadway (Melanie); step-sons, Tommy Dalton Lawrence (Deidra) and Keith Wayne Ainsworth; step-daughters, Sonya Gwin Dunn, Myra Gail Skinner (Alan), Patricia Dawn Wiggington, and Gloria Joan Barker; along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria D. Holifield Broadway; first wife Betty M. Jefcoat Broadway; his parents, Robert Terry Broadway and Velma Caroline Matthews Broadway; his brothers, Jerry Broadway, Joe Broadway, and Charles Broadway; and his sisters, Elsie Ishee and Annie May Broadway.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025, from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel, located at 4593 Indian Springs Rd, Laurel, MS. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM at the same location, with Bro. Robbie White officiating. Burial will take place at Old Antioch Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel.

Pallbearers will be Donnie Ishee, Dale Broadway, Chris White, Matthew White, Evan Valentine, and Cole Broadway.
