John Hiram Corley, 82, of Soso, Mississippi, passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Born on March 1, 1943, in Jones County, Mississippi, John lived a full and cherished life surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Neva Jan Butler Corley, and his children: John David Corley and wife Dede, Jason Heath Corley and wife Audrey, Matthew Allen Corley and wife Lisa, and daughter Amanda LeAnn Jefcoat and husband Jeffrey. John was a beloved brother to Michael Corley and wife Sydney, and Mattie Hatten and husband Jimmy. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Justin Corley and wife Kelli, Ashley Quintanilla and husband Mathew, Isabella Williams and husband Lance, Allie McGilberry and husband Mac, Katlyn Luckey and husband Bannon, Jake Corley, Jaycee Wooten and husband Jordan, Trace Corley, Sadie Sanders, Eli Sanders, Jase Jefcoat, Landon Jefcoat, and Marley Jefcoat. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Ethan Corley, Abigail Corley, Addison Quintanilla, Laurel Quintanilla, Claira Quintanilla, Alana Quintanilla, Bethany Williams, Abel Williams, Ellie Williams, Ruby Williams, Gideon Williams, Ruth Williams, Carrington McCarty, Carsyn McCarty, Lindsey McGilberry, Aubrey McGilberry, Brayden Luckey, Kara Luckey, Olivia Luckey, Gannon Luckey, Henry Wooten and Jack Wooten on the way. John is also survived by his sister-in-law, Karen Corley.
John was preceded in death by his son, Danny Lee Corley, his parents, Lonnie and Bessie Atwood Corley, and his siblings: L.B. Corley and wife Daisy, Frank Corley and wife June, Stewart Corley, Gerald Corley, Erma Corley, Barbara Abel and husband L.G., and Mildred Graham and husband L.N.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Centerville Baptist Church, located at 995 Centerville Rd. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM at the same location, with burial in the Centerville Baptist Church Cemetery in Soso, MS. Bro. Jimmy Hood and Bro. Brian Dickens will officiate the services. Arrangements are being handled by Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel.
