John C. Dennis passed away peacefully at the age of 69 on February 9, 2024 at his residence in Ovett, MS. Other than a few years spent in other states and abroad for his job, he was a lifelong resident of Ovett, MS.  Born on March 19, 1954, John was known for his love of life, his passion for cooking, and his enthusiasm for motorcycles.

John leaves behind a legacy of love and memories cherished by his family: sons, Curt Dennis and Eric Dennis; daughter-in-law. Sharla Dennis; mother, Wanda C. Dennis; sister, Margarett Dennis; ex-wife, Deborah Dennis; nieces, Lindsey Sapic and Cassi Dennis Ramos; great-nephews, Logan Boyd, Joshua Ramos, David Ramos; and great-niece, Ava Casciano.; brother-in-law, Wayne Boyd. He is preceded in death by his father Peter J. Dennis, brother David L. Dennis, and sister-in-law Sandra J. Dennis.

Educated at St. John's Day School and Northeast Jones High School, John furthered his education at Jones Junior College and the University of Southern Mississippi. His academic pursuits paved the way for a distinguished career in the oil industry, where he rose from the position of floor hand to become a respected directional drilling consultant.

A service to honor John's life will be held on a date to be announced by the family. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel, MS is overseeing the arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in John's memory to the American Heart Association.

John's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His indomitable spirit and heartwarming smile will live on in the memories of his loved ones.
