Obituary

John Randall Dobbs, 72 of Laurel, MS passed away Sunday, March 23, 2025, at his residence in Laurel, MS. He was born Friday, August 15, 1952, in Laurel, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, from 12:00PM until 2:00PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel at 4593 Indian Springs Rd, Laurel, MS. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at 2:00PM at Salem Heights Baptist Church Cemetery in Laurel, MS. Burial will follow at Salem Heights Baptist Church Cemetery in Laurel, Mississippi. Bro. Randy McLeod will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel is in charge of arrangements. 601-649-3342.

His passion was driving a charter bus, especially for Jones College and Presbyterian Christian School. As a bus driver, he never met a stranger, and he cherished the many relationships he built throughout the years. Whether he was behind the wheel or on the sidelines of a ballfield, Randall always found joy in the simple moments of life, including cheering on his grandchildren or enjoying Butterfinger ice cream at Laurel Creamery or Dairy Queen.

In addition to his love for people, Randall was known for his unwavering support of his family. He found great happiness in spending time with his loved ones, whether watching Alabama football or riding through Cades Cove together. His legacy of kindness, humor, and devotion will live on through his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his biological parents, Sammy Dobbs and Frances Waltman Mallet; Daddy, J. E. Carpenter and mother, Donna Carpenter; brothers, Wallace Dobbs, Robert Dobbs, Jerrel Dobbs, Donnie Dobbs, Danny Dobbs, Craig Carpenter.

Survivors include his wife, Diane Parker Dobbs:  sons, Johnny Dobbs (Susan), Kris Dobbs and Joseph Dobbs; grandchildren, Dalton Dobbs, Jordan Dobbs, Sawyer Dobbs, Dakota Dobbs and Scarlet Dobbs; brothers, Charles Dobbs, James McCarty (Carol) and Eric Carpenter (Lucretia); sister, Becky Clark (Roger), Carolyn Wood (Jon).

Pallbearers will be Johnny Dobbs, Kris Dobbs, Joseph Dobbs, Dalton Dobbs, Jordan Dobbs, and Sawyer Dobbs.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dakota Dobbs and Scarlet Dobbs.
