Joseph Rodney "Joey" Parker passed away at his home in the Big Creek Community on October 13, 2023, at the age of 66. He was born on May 12, 1957, to Dee Parker, Jr and Geraldine Everett Parker. He was of the Baptist faith.
Visitation will be held Monday October 16th, 2023 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Big Creek Baptist Church on 28 Big Creek Church Rd Soso, MS with the service to follow at 11:00 AM. The burial will follow in Big Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Harold Floyd and Bro. Adam Sloan will officiate the services. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel is in charge of arrangements. At a young age working on the Jefcoat Farm he met the love of his life Dana and they have been married for 44 years. After he and Dana married, he began working in the oilfield doing seismograph and ROW clearing work. At the time of his death, he was employed by J Parker Services LLC as a Pipeline ROW Superintendent. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping on the river. His most enjoyable activity was spending time with his grandsons, whether it be playing outside, gardening or riding the side by side checking the livestock.
Preceded in death by his father Dee Parker, Jr., Paternal Grandparents Rev. Dee Parker, Sr. and Vernetta Hollomon Parker, Maternal Grandparents Joseph "JC" Everette and Vernon Katy West Chandler. He is also preceded in death by Father-in-law Lumus Jefcoat, Brothers-in-law Terry Stakes and Joseph "Butch" Rowell and Nephew Jonathan Parker.
He is survived by his wife Dana Jefcoat Parker, children Channing Parker (Ashton), and Chadwick Parker. Grandchildren Thomas and J.W. Parker. Mother Geraldine Parker. Brothers Will Parker, Walter Parker (Susan), John Parker (Jacqueline),
Sisters Cindy Stakes, Sherry Rowell, Tammi Walters (David). He is also survived by family friend and caretaker, Cheri Clancy.
Pallbearers will be Adam Rowell, Evan Pitts, Trace Jefcoat, Wes Herrington, Jimmy Welch, David Buchannan, Todd Boykin, and Todd Jordan.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the employees of J Parker Services and nephews Ty Herrington and Wyatt Herrington.
