Judith A. Taylor Blackwell, 83, of Calhoun, MS, peacefully went to be with her Lord on Monday, September 28, 2026, at Comfort Care Nursing Home in Laurel, MS. She was born on September 6, 1943, in Laurel, MS.

Judy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend whose life was guided by her love for the Lord and her family. She will also be lovingly remembered for the beautiful gift she shared through music. For many years, she faithfully played the piano at Parkview Baptist Church, providing music for worship and special occasions. Her hands that so often brought hymns to life on the piano were a blessing to everyone who had the privilege of hearing her play.

Her faith was an important part of who she was, and she found great joy in serving her church and encouraging those around her. Her kindness, gentle spirit, and love for others touched many lives.

There’s nothing more that she would want anyone to understand and know than the love of Jesus. If you don’t know Him, find Him. Reach out to someone you love that does and make that decision today to have the peace that only comes from Jesus.

The family would like to thank the many nurses, attendants, house keepers and general personnel that touched her life at Comfort Care Nursing Home where she spent the last few months of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George D. and Jessie Flynt Taylor; brothers, William “Bill” Taylor, Joe Taylor, and Jerry Taylor.

Judy is survived by her loving family, including her husband of 64 years, Ken Blackwell; children, Karen Matthews (Lee), Joey Blackwell (Stacy), Laura Burns (Mike); grandchildren, Robert Valentine, Mason Valentine (Alyn), Ryan Blackwell (Kelsey), Darren Burns (Haven), Brittany Moss (Mason), Trace Blackwell, Madisyn Livingston (Zack), Shelby White (Dagan); great-grandchildren, Vivian Blackwell, Adaline Blackwell, Eleanor Blackwell, Ella Burns, Dawson Livingston, Evie Moss, Gunner Livingston; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Blackwell, Trace Blackwell, Robert Valentine, Mason Moss, Zack Livingston, Mike Burns and Lee Matthews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at Parkview Baptist Church in Laurel from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be Thursday October 1, 2026, at 10:00AM at the same location, with burial at Taylor Cemetery in Calhoun, MS. Brother Shane Singleton and Brother Dave Moran will officiate. Arrangements are under the care of Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel.
