Katherine Alice Estelle (Katty) Lawson, 97, of Laurel, MS, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at Laurelwood Community Living Center. She was born on September 18, 1929, in Summit, Mississippi.

She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Elvin Lawson; mother, Leona Metz Lawson; brother, Murray Randolph Lawson (Audrey); sisters, Christine Lee Bourgeois (Wilbert) and Ruby Muriel Smith (Ralph); nephews, John Morgan, Tommy Morgan and Ronnie Morgan.

She is survived by her loving family; nephew, Randy Smith (Cindy); nieces, Connie Gatlin (Ben), Liz Daray and Lori Sanders (Max); a host of great-nieces and nephews and extended family.

Visitation will be held Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 1:00 PM till 3:00 PM at Mill Creek Church. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 24, 2026, at 3:00 PM at the same location. Burial will follow at Mill Creek Church Cemetery. Bro. Bill Myers and Bro. Trey Beck will officiate the service. Arrangements are under the care of Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel, MS.
