Kathy Lynn Whatley, 62 of Laurel, MS passed away Friday, October 14, 2022, at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel, MS. She was born Saturday, May 21, 1960, in Laurel, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, from 5:00PM until 8:00PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel, MS. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at 10:00AM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel, MS. Burial will follow in Union Line Cemetery in Soso, Mississippi. Ken Riley will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel is in charge of arrangements. 601-649-3342.

Kathy was born in Laurel, MS on May 21, 1960, to Vivian and Charles Whatley. She lived in Laurel her entire life where she raised one daughter, Kaylynn Walters of Petal, MS. She made an impact on everyone she encountered in her life and made them feel loved and special. Kathy could light up a room and loved to make people smile and laugh. She had a beautiful voice and loved to sing Gospel and Country music, write poetry, and get her hands on any arts and crafts projects she could find. She had a heart of gold.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Vivian Whatley, nephew, Robert (Robby) M. Rivers, Jr., grandparents, Louella and Harmon Sims Sr., Vera and Cedell Whatley

Survivors include her daughter, Kaylynn Aaren Walters, grand-dog, Jasmine Walters, 3 sisters, Sandra Welch, Rhonda Reynolds (Ray), Joan Reid (Jeff), and host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and even great greats.

Pallbearers will be Ray Reynolds, Jake Wade, Jimmy Carr, Thomas Green, Dwayne Walters, and Brett Walters.

Honorary Pallbearer will be Jeff Reid.
