Katie Norton Collins, 78, of Laurel, MS, passed away at her residence in Laurel on September 22, 2025. She was born on November 27, 1946 in Jones County, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2025, from 9:30AM until 11:00AM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel at 4593 Indian Springs Rd, Laurel, MS. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at 11:00AM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel. Bro. Blake Houston will officiate. She is survived by her loving husband, Dwight Collins, of 43 years. Other survivors include her son, Joey Matthews (Cheryl), her daughter, Leigh McCarty (Justin), and her grandsons, Kade Matthews (Mackenzie), Kace Matthews, and Kale Matthews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest "Mutt" and Juanita Norton.

Katie retired from the Jones County School System with 40 years of service. In her recent years, she spent her time volunteering faithfully at the American Legion Post 11. She will be remembered for her love of life and for her devotion to her family and friends and her unwavering faith.

Pallbearers will be Justin McCarty, Kade Matthews, Kace Matthews, Kale Matthews, Ken McLain, and Dwayne Holifield.

In lieu flowers, memorials may be sent to the American Legion Post 11 or Venture Church.
