Shawn Keith Bates, 45 of Ovett, MS passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2024. He was born Friday, September 7, 1979, in Laurel, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024, from 5:00PM until 8:00PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel in 4593 Indian Springs Rd, Laurel, MS. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at 3:00PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel in Laurel, MS. Burial will follow in Welch Family Cemetery in Gitano, MS. Bro. Keith worked at S & S Dozier for 26 years for his father-in-law, Travis Phillips, alongside Shannon Bauer. He enjoyed restoring antique vehicles and camping with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Kenny Ray Bates; mother, Edna Welch Bates; mother-in-law, Patsy Phillips; grandparents, Edwin and Mamie Welch and Josie Bates.

Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Shay Phillips Bates; son, Mason Bates (Emilie); daughter, Madison LeRay (Logan); sister, Michelle Ishee (Ben), sister-in-law, Shonda Mann (Scott); father-in-law, Travis Phillips (Angie); aunt, June Gibson (Ronnie); nieces and nephews, Rachel DeLeon (Jorge), Carley Dear (Donald), Macie Ishee, Hunter, Jackson, and Colton Mann, Abbi English, great-nieces and nephews; Aiden, Ben, Oliver, and Sara DeLeon, Carter and Caden Dear, Scarlett and Sophia Pipkins; step brother-in-law, Justin Pipkins (Haley); step sister-in-law, Brittany Pipkins, cousin, Alison DeLeon (Edglar).

Pallbearers will be Jeff English, Scott Mann, Jorge DeLeon, Chris Hearn, Brett Allred, and Mikey Bustin.

Honorary pallbearers will be Hunter Mann, Jackson Mann, and John Rayner.
