Kenneth R. Cross, 76, of Heidelberg, MS, passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, April 16, 2025. Born on February 18, 1949, in Ringold, Louisiana, Kenneth lived a life full of love and dedication to his family and community. He began his career as a constable, later serving as a deputy, and was elected Justice Court Judge. Kenneth was elected Sheriff of Jasper County, where he served four terms with over 20 years of service. He was a deacon at Corinth Baptist Church, where he also taught Sunday school.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Deborah 'Debbie' Risher Cross, and his daughter, Stephanie Walters, along with her husband Quin. Kenneth was a proud grandfather to Eli Gray and Mason Gray, who is married to Alora, and a cherished great-grandfather to Elliot Gray. He is also survived by his sister, Judy Beavers.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Geneva Cross (Pierce), his brother Terry Cross, and his brother-in-law David Beavers.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Corinth Baptist Church in Heidelberg, Mississippi, with Bro. Jamie Matthews and Bro. Homer Kemp officiating. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the same location. Kenneth will be laid to rest at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery in Heidelberg, Mississippi. Arrangements are being handled by Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel.
