Larry W. Shortridge
September 7, 1943 – March 22, 2024

Larry Shortridge of Forest, MS, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2024. He was 80 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Burley Shortridge and Luella Mae Brackenrich and his wife of over 40 years, Shirley Ann Shortridge.

Larry is survived by his children Sherri Shortridge Norman, Ira Shortridge (Jodi), grandchildren Hunter Shortridge, Cody Shortridge, Felicity Shortridge, all of Yuba City, CA; and grandson Jacob Norman and great grandson Slater Norman of Lake Havasu, AZ; His siblings, Allen Shortridge (Kathy); Denny Shortridge (Deborah) and Gloria Shortridge; Larry is also survived by six step-children and several nieces and nephews.

Larry was born in Greenbrier County, West Va. After graduating from Apopka High School in 1960, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He became skilled in the field of waste water treatment while serving in the Air Force. He lived in Yuba City, CA for many years, working for Beale Air Force Base in water treatment.

Larry later moved to MS where he worked for the city of Jackson and the town of Bay Springs as manager over the waste water treatment plants. Later in his career, Larry served in a supervisory position with Koch Foods in Scott County, MS, finally retiring at the age of 70 with over 20 years of service to the company.

Larry was an avid outdoorsman. He was a talented marksman and a great hunter. He was an excellent cook and especially enjoyed preparing the wild game that he hunted. Larry was also a great gardener, maintaining a beautifully landscaped yard for many years.
Larry was a good man and will truly be missed by all that knew him.

A private grave side service was held on March 28 at Old Antioch Church in Laurel MS.
