Mabris Virginia Gardner, 78 of Laurel, MS passed away with the love of her life by her side, Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at Merit Health Wesley in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. She was born Friday, March 16, 1945. in Millry, Alabama.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023, from 10:00AM until 11:00AM at Trinity Baptist Church, 35 Trinty Church Rd, Laurel, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at 11:00AM at Trinity Baptist Church in Laurel, Mississippi. Burial will follow in Waynesboro Cemetery in Waynesboro, Mississippi.
Bro. Bill Blair and Bro. Ken Johnson will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel is in charge of arrangements. 601-649-3342.
She was a loving wife, mother, memaw and friend. As a member of Trinity Baptist Church, she served as a Sunday school teacher for a number of years before transitioning to the nursey. Her hobby was her grandchildren. She enjoyed going and watching each of them at the ballfield and recitals. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her extended family and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James E. and Lucy Maude Taylor; brothers, Dennis Taylor and Waynic Taylor; son-in-law, Mark Walters; brother-in-law, L.H Trigg.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Jesse Gardner; son, Jimmy Gardner (Tonya); daughter, Debbie Butler (Buddy); grandchildren, Jessmar Livingston (Keghan), Tanner Walters (Anna), Jessy Gardner, Ty Gardner, Ryan Butler (Alisha) and Katie Butler; great grandchildren, Brystle Rayne Livingston, Brianna Grace Dry, Layken Ryan Butler, Beau Alexander Butler and Taysom Brees Butler; brother, Gary Wayne Taylor (Sarah); sisters, Margarette Trigg and Ellen Ruth Beard (Donald Ray); sister-in-law, Regian Roughton (Ray); best friend Dot Clairmont and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Tanner Walters, Ty Gardner, Keghan Livingston, Ryan Butler, Dillon Rustin and Mark Hinton.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to Gideon International. To honor her love of the Lord.
