Margaret Louise West, 78, of Sandersville, MS, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel, MS. Born on October 10, 1946, in Waynesboro, Mississippi, Margaret was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

She lived out her faith through decades of community service, including delivering meals to the homebound alongside her husband Tony. Her generosity, warm spirit, and ability to make everyone feel seen endeared her to neighbors, church family, and friends alike.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Anthony 'Tony' Maxwell West; her son, Jody Lang West; her daughter, Tonya Louise Gatlin and her husband Timmy; and her cherished grandchild, Savannah Rose Gatlin. Margaret is also survived by her brother, Jimmy West and his wife Beth; and her sisters, Ann Walker and her husband Tom, Wanda Janet Harrison and her husband Jim, Betty Moore and her husband Jerry, and Vivian Weaver and her husband Johnny.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Walter G. West and Melba L. Beard West.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, from 9:30AM until 11:00AM at Salem Heights Baptist Church, located at 5850 Hwy 84W, Laurel, Mississippi. Funeral services will follow at 11:00AM at the same location, with Bro. Brent Benson officiating. Burial will take place at Boyles Chapel Cemetery in Waynesboro, Mississippi. Arrangements are being handled by Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel.

Margaret will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Her family and friends will serve as pallbearers, honoring her memory and legacy.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Christian Food Mission of Laurel.
