Martile Vila Black Moss, 84, passed away Thursday,
October 6, 2022, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland,
Mississippi.

She was born on June 16, 1938, in Soso, Mississippi, and
graduated from Soso High School in 1957. In 1959, she
married her high school sweetheart and began years of
adventures that included moving to many locations. Martile
retired from working for the State of Mississippi in her early
70's, and continued to enjoy traveling and gardening.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ted William and
Vila Jefcoat Black; brother, Gerald Black; sisters, Vernell
Powell and Mary Rhydonna 'Shay' Stewart; and nephew,
Randy Powell.

Survivors include daughter, Sherry Moss Shannon, and
son, Hal Chase Moss, III (Sue); grandchildren, Greg (Leah)
Davis, Chase (Samantha) Davis, and Will (Shannon) Davis;
8 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; sisterin-
law, Lois Black; brothers-in-law, Charles Powell and
Wayne Stewart; niece and nephew, Jan (Greg) Walters and
Jeffery (Melissa) Stewart, and special friend, Jack Bethea.

A Graveside Service and Celebration of Life will be held
on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at 1:00 p.m., in the Union
Line Cemetery of Soso, Mississippi.

The family would like to thank all the staff of Hospice
Ministries for the special care and love shown to Martile
