Michael "Mike" D. Thames, 71, of Laurel, Mississippi, passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at his residence in Laurel, Mississippi. He was born Thursday, May 21, 1953, in Laurel, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Ellisville, Mississippi. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Ellisville, Mississippi. Burial will follow in Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery in Ellisville, Mississippi. Bro. Roy Crouch will officiate. Mike was a hard-working man that worked road construction in his early life, with Bush Construction, followed by many years with Dunn Roadbuilders. He was a man that loved the Lord Jesus Christ and loved his wife, Margie, and son, Stone, greatly.

He was preceded in death by his father, Elton Thames, and mother, Loretta Elaine Hughes Thames.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Margie Thornton Thames; son, Dr. Stone Thames (Amy); brothers, Kelly Thames (Patti) and Terry Thames; sisters, Diane Gwin (Dan) and Elizabeth May (Randy); grandson, Levi Stone Thames; granddaughter, Katherine Elaine Thames; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Randy May, Dan Gwin, Jason Gwin, Wayne Thames, Lewis Husband, and Robby Walters.
