Mildred Willis Aplin, 97, of Huntsville, AL passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at her residence. She was born Sunday, January 9, 1927 in Jones County, Mississippi.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, March 03, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Laurel, MS. Pastor Wade Bush will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel is in charge of arrangements. 601-649-3342
Mildred was born on a farm at Tuckers Crossing. Her first jobs were at Kress and Reliance in Laurel. After marriage to Charlie, they traveled the country to Houston, Chicago, and New York before eventually settling in Huntsville , AL to work for the Army Missile Command.
She raised two children and was very active in her church. Mildred and Charlie returned to Mississippi to
retire where they enjoyed raising a huge garden every year.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles M. Aplin; daughter, Mary Darlene Aplin; father, Wilda W. Willis; mother, Mamie O' Flinn Willis; and a sister, Eva Mae McCraw.
Survivors include her son, Dennis C. Aplin (Patricia) of Huntsville, AL, and a grandson, Charles Albert Aplin of Daphne, AL as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
The family would like to say special thanks to Christine Donley for her assistance as a care giver and neighbor.
