Minnie Merle Wood, 86, of Stringer, MS, passed away peacefully at her residence on Saturday, July 26, 2025. Born on September 2, 1938, in Jasper County, Mississippi, Merle was a beloved member of her community and a devoted follower of God.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Jasper "Boley" Wood; her son, Rickey Joe Wood; her father, Dewey Williams, her mother, Annie Montgomery Williams; her brothers, Willie B. Williams and DE Williams; and her sisters, Irene Simpson and Ann McCarty.

Merle loved her family and her fur great granddaughters. She had a strong faith of a trusting God. She loved her church and her church family. We do know God won the battle and dementia lost.

Merle is survived by her son, David Wood; her daughter, Robbie Fuller; her granddaughter, Sommer Fuller; and her cherished great-granddaughter fur babies, Sophie and Gracie.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel, located at 4593 Indian Springs Rd, Laurel, MS. Funeral services will follow at the same location, with Bro. David Williams officiating. Burial will take place at Liberty Baptist Cemetery in Stringer, Mississippi.

Pallbearers will include Danny McCarty, Travis Phillips, Donnie Hicks, Richard Williams, Brandon Perry, and Johnny Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Dale Yawn, Mike Williams, Danny Hicks, and Daniel Harris.
