Nita Rose Smith, 87, of Laurel, Mississippi, passed away Thursday, September 9, 2021 at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel, Mississippi. She was born Sunday, December 10, 1933 in Moselle, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 12, 2021 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, September 12, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home with the burial to follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery. Bro. Sammy Napier and Bro. Willard Rose will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel is in charge of arrangements. (601) 649-3342

Mrs. Nita loved to sing and play the piano. She was a true people person and never met a stranger. She will always be remembered by her contagious laugh and saying "Praise the Lord".  She was greatly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Charles Smith, her parents, James Rose and Velma Rose, brothers, R.L. Rose, Laston Rose, her sister-in-laws, Ann Rose and Betty Rose.

Survivors include her brother, Willard Rose, her sister, Mary Ann Chamblee, her sister-in-law, Nell Rose, the children she never had, Mike Davis (Rhonda), Wesley Maddox (Deidra), Kevin Booth (Crystal), Sophia Hayes (Robbie), Robin Jones (Ronny), Wendy Graham (Tim) and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Ray Rose, Richard Rose, Melton Rose, Jim Rose, Russell Rose, and Wesley Maddox.
