Obituary

Patricia Nell Huddleston White, 86, of Heidelberg, MS, went to her heavenly home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 2, 2026, passing peacefully at Merit Wesley Hospital in Hattiesburg, MS. Born on September 18, 1940, in Heidelberg, MS, Patricia was the youngest daughter of Lucien and Viola Huddleston. She graduated from Heidelberg High School in 1958.

On August 18, 1958, she married the love of her life, Roy Henry White. Together, they raised two daughters, built a life of love, devotion, and a home grounded in Christ, sharing 68 wonderful years of marriage.

Patricia loved reading, flowers, fishing, camping, crocheting, cross stitching, sewing, pen pals, jigsaw puzzles, and talking on the phone sharing memories with her sister/cousin, Glenda Smith. Patricia never met a stranger and could always find kinship in conversation with those she met.

Patricia worked different jobs over her lifetime, but her love for cooking and people led her to preparing meals for several community clubs in Jasper County: Heidelberg Rotary Club, Jasper County EDA, and the Medical Board. Her love of reading led her to be the substitute for the Mary Weems Parker Memorial Library and, in later years, she was the full-time librarian.

Her love for Christ and her kind heart left a lasting impression on everyone she met. But her truest life's work was her walk with Christ and her deep love and devotion to her family. A faithful member of McFarland Presbyterian Church, her faith in Christ guided every aspect of her life. She was dedicated to praying and spent many hours lifting up her children, all her grandchildren, family members, and friends in prayer. Her love for the Lord carried over into the lives of her daughters, sons-in-law, grandkids, great-grandkids, and great-great-grandkids.

Patricia held many titles over her 68 years with Roy. She was lovingly referred to by him as "Honey," family called her Trisher or Trish and friends called her Pat. "Mama" was her proud title, until she became "Nanny." After she became "Nanny," she was called "Nanny" by everyone. "Nanny" was incredibly proud of all her children and would talk to anyone who would listen about their successes and accomplishments.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lucian and Viola Huddleston; brothers, Welton "Whimpy" Huddleston and Kenneth David Huddleston; sisters, Kathlyn Bustin, Flora Lou Garrett, and Bernadine "Bernie" Hankins; and great-great-granddaughter, Nellie Ruth Davis.

Patricia leaves behind a heritage of faith and love. She is survived by her husband, Roy Henry White; her children, Brenda (Danny) Gatlin and Tina (Huey) Powe; her 3 grandchildren, Chris Gatlin, Josh (Brook) Gatlin, and Kimberly (Chris) Eavenson; 8 great-grandchildren, Cynsleigh (Keagan) Davis, Emily Gatlin (Drew Price), Addyson Gatlin, Jackson Gatlin, Avery Eavenson, Anna Gatlin, Kabe Gatlin, and Knox Eavenson; 2 great-great-grandchildren, Blaine Davis and Rhett Price; along with a host of extended family members and dear friends, all of whom were a very special part of her life.

Visitation will be Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at McFarland Presbyterian Church in Heidelberg, with service at 1:00 PM at the church with Pastor Norma Loposser officiating. Burial to follow at McFarland Cemetery.

The family would like to thank everyone for all your prayers, calls, and text messages over the past several weeks. We would like to thank the medical staff at Merit Wesley for the support and care provided. Also a special thank you to Arden Hospice, Joan and Brad, for your comfort during this time.

"Nanny" will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but remember: "As far as one can see, grief will never truly end. It may become softer over time, but grief will last as long as love does, forever."
