Obituary

Richard "Rick" Douglas Graham, 76, passed peacefully on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at his
residence in Laurel, MS. Rick was born on July 19, 1947, at Jackson County Hospital in
Pascagoula, MS. There will be a private memorial in celebration of his life.

He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Atwood Graham, Sr.; mother, Lois Mary
Dillman Graham; stepmother, Bettie Lou Holloway Graham; and stepsister, Edith Smith.
He is survived by his son Spence Graham (Katey) of Humble, TX; grandsons, Benjamin
Graham and James Graham of Humble, TX; brother, Robby Graham (Princess) of Laurel,
MS; stepbrothers, Wayne Smith (Brenda) of Gautier, MS and Daniel Smith (Lexie) of
Seminary, MS; dear friend, Ellen Rainbolt; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Rick graduated from Pascagoula High School in 1965, where he played in the marching
band. As a skilled musician, he played the clarinet and the alto, tenor, and baritone
saxophones. After graduation he attended The University of Southern Mississippi where he
played in the Pride Marching Band and the Jazz Lab Band for two years. He even formed a
stage band, The Ascots, with his friends. He had fond memories of the summer of 1972
when he traveled with the USA Band throughout seven countries in Europe.
After college Rick worked his first job at First National Bank of Mobile. Later he moved to
Dallas, TX where he wrote software for Apple Computer, Inc. and The Earthgrains
Company (Anheuser-Busch Food Division) for over twenty years. He served on the Board
of Directors for First Colony Bank, The Colony, TX.

Many things brought Rick joy such as music, travel, fishing, movies, books, and his family
and friends. He loved dogs, especially his two beloved cocker spaniels, Buster and Molly.
There was no bigger Dallas Cowboys fan than Rick! They were his number one team, and
he fondly referred to football season as "Cheerleader Season!" After retiring, he settled in
Vancleave, MS in his "cabin in the woods." During the last two and a half years of his life,
he resided in Laurel with his brother, Robby, and sister-in-law, Princess. Above all, he was
most proud of his son, Spence, daughter-in-law, Katey, and his grandsons, Benjamin and
James.
