Ruby Jewel Sumrall Bynum, 78, of Laurel, Mississippi, died Thursday, January 7, 2021 at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel, Mississippi. She was born Friday, January 9, 1942 in Holly Bluff, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 10, 2021 from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Calhoun in Laurel, Mississippi. Private Graveside Services will be held Sunday, January 10, 2021 at 3:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Calhoun Cemetery. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel is in charge of arrangements. Ruby was a retired nurse, faithful member of First Baptist Church of Calhoun and a volunteer of the local food mission. A faithful wife, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was also active in her local WMA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Tom' and Effie Eather Tune Sumrall.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Robert Bynum, son, Chris Bynum (Brittney), Tonya Bynum, grandchildren, Braxton Bynum, Latham Bynum, Morgan Davis, Anna Davis, great-grandson, Jax Hill, brother, Carl Sumrall (MaryAnn), sister, Tommie Ritchey.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Calhoun Women's Missionary Auxiliary.
