Russell Lewis Holifield, 87 of Sandersville, MS passed away Sunday, April 9, 2023 at his residence in Sandersville. He was born Tuesday, April 9, 1937 in Sandersville, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 from 12:00 noon until 2:00 PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at 2:30 PM at Faith Chapel Cemetery. Burial will follow in Faith Chapel Cemetery in Laurel. Rev. Jimmy Holder will officiate.

Russell was an avid deer and turkey hunter and he enjoyed the outdoors and he also enjoyed carpenter work and  loved his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Melton and Nellie Holifield; brothers, Jack Holifield, Harold Holifield, Carl Holifield, Clyde (Bud) Holifield, Kerney Holifield, Hershel Holifield and Edward Holifield; sisters, Mary June Paris, and Lola Mae Guines.

Survivors include his son, Douglas Holifield; daughter, Joe Ann James (Jerry) of Millry, AL; step-son, Andy Hodge; sisters, Margaret Rankin and Dorothy Buick; nieces, Darlene Parker and Melissa Lightsey.
